Dogs 101: Reading Your Dog’s Behavior and Basic Training

1.5 - 2 hours

This is a great class for anyone interested in taking a deep dive into the world of dog behavior and body language. In this class with certified professional dog trainer, Alex Ferrente, you will learn what all those lips licks and tail wags really mean. We will use pictures and videos to illuminate the world of canine communication. We will also cover the science behind basic training techniques. This class is a great complement to Happy Dog Levels 1 or 2.

Cats 101: Reading Your Cat’s Behavior and Basic Training

1.5 - 2 hours

Rebecca Lohnes is Rochester’s only certified cat behavior consultant and in this class she’s ready to decode your cat’s behavior! Cats have a reputation for being hard to read, but in reality they are brilliant communicators - with every tail flick or ear twitch your cat is telling you something. You’ll also learn how to get started with training, so that you can teach your cat some tricks and with any luck turn them into the next internet sensation!

Welcome Home, Puppy!

1.5 - 2 hours

Have you welcomed home a little bundle of canine joy - or are you planning to bring one home soon? If so, this class is for you! We will discuss how to prepare for and survive your puppy’s first months at home. Learn the basics of puppy socialization, crate training, house training, and more! This class delves deeply into the science behind your pup’s early months and is a great complement to our Puppy Pre-K class.

The Power of Positive Reinforcement: Training Techniques for Any Species

2 hours

Whether you're interested in training your dog, cat, fish, guinea pig, or any other species, this is the class for you! In this class, student will take an in-depth look at the science of how animals learn s well as the practical applications of the principles of behavioral science. Examples from many species will be discussed - including humans! Students will also dig into the ethics of animal training. Come nerd out in this class and take your dog/cat/iguana/whatever training to the next level.
